The mission of Yrittäjäten is to improve the status of entrepreneurs and the conditions for entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship lead the entire Finnish society towards a better future.
The whole of Finland flourishes when entrepreneurs and companies succeed.
Entrepreneurs base their operations on the basic values of entrepreneurship:
Courage
We improve the position of entrepreneurs proactively and constructively. We are not afraid of the criticism that often comes to a brave innovator.
Reliability
We base our position on facts and take into account the social context.
Recurrence
We offer member entrepreneurs services tailored to their needs. We are prepared to re-evaluate solutions when the operating environment changes.
The organization includes companies from the trade, transport, services, industry and contracting sectors. The membership structure corresponds to the Finnish corporate structure. Half of the member companies are sole proprietors and half are employer companies.
History of entrepreneurs
Finnish Entrepreneurs began its operations in January 1996, when its predecessor organizations, the Finnish Small Industries Confederation (PTK), which had been in operation since 1898, and the Finnish Entrepreneurs Confederation (SYKL), which had been in operation since 1933, joined forces to form Entrepreneurs. The decision to establish the new organization was made on 5 September 1995 at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. In honor of that event, the fifth of September is Entrepreneur's Day on calendars.
Regional organizations and business associations
Companies are members of local business associations, i.e. in local associations or in industry associations. Local associations are regional organizations members. Regional organizations and industry organizations, in turn, are members of the Federation of Finnish Entrepreneurs. Regional organizations, the largest local associations and some of the industry organizations have paid staff.
